Crystal
Ristorante' & Bar had its beginning over 55 years ago when Anthony
Centi, Sr. was a bartender in his brother-in-law's establishment,
Carl's Tavern, on Bridge Street. Later, Tony owned and operated
the Lyon Street Grill until 1945. Purchasing a two-family residence
located at 72 Lyon Street, Tony converted it to a restaurant and
bar. A contest was held to determine the name and "Crystal Bar"
was the winning entry. Dr. Paul Centi appropriately deemed it the
Crystal Bar because at that time the entire bar was built out of
crystal tiles.
This Lyon Street
location was a thriving industrial site as the Mohawk Mills were
running at full capacity directly across the street.
The Crystal Bar continued
to prosper and in 1958 was handed down to Tony's son, Gabe Centi.
With the recession in the late 1950's, Gabe maintained the prosperity
of the Crystal Bar by experimenting with his own style of pizza
and sub sandwiches. This style was a great success and became the
signature of the Crystal Bar.

In
the 1980's, Gabe renovated the bar and further expanded by enlarging
the dining room area. The pizza and dinners continued to gain widespread
recognition. In 1987 Crystal Bar's pizza was voted the best in the
great Northeast by WGY's Don Weeks. Gabe passed the business on
to his sons, Tony and Mark, in 1988.
Today, Tony carries
on the tradition of excellence started by his grandfather, Anthony.
With an expanded dinner menu and a remodeled dining room in 1995,
Crystal Bar continues to offer fine Italian food and an atmosphere
to match. Thank you for your patronage.
